About

Nice to meet you!

Hello, I’m Laura! I’m Boston-based Design Director at PBS. My expertise includes interactive digital product design and design system development for products like PBS.org, PBSKIDS.org, the PBS App, and the PBS KIDS Video App. I also lead creative direction and exploration for our brand colors, elements, and other styles. I’m passionate about crafting accessible user experiences to drive positive impact.

Outside of work, I love painting, traveling, spending any time I can in nature, and hanging out with my puppy Ella. Outside of work, I spend a lot of time making art. In 2018, I created an Instagram to share my paintings, opened up an Etsy shop, and created my business Laura King Paints. Today, I specialize in pet portraits and have a wide range of products including stickers and greeting cards, all inspired by nature. I’m proud to say that my products are in over 125 retail stores across the U.S. and Canada and growing.

I just wanted to send a note telling you what a great job the Audience Products Design Team (Laura King, Mary Crocamo, and Chris Koth) does. All three consistently deliver great ideas and designs, and they are always completely on top of everything they do. They make my own job not only easier but better in that they bring in great concepts and strategies that I never would have thought of without them. Individually, each is an A+ performer, and as a team they are just outta sight.
— Lars Klores, Director of Audience Products
One of the best things about working with Laura is that she will step up and suggest creative ideas before someone even asks for them. I appreciate her throwing many ideas on the table before we know how we can make them work. She is not afraid to question things and push back on design decisions.
— Mary Crocamo, Design Director, PBS
Laura’s ability to take initiative, openness to learning from every team member, and incredible work ethic have been paramount in moving the Brand Refresh project forward and making a significant impact. She does all this while maintaining the utmost professionalism, meeting every deadline and all the while gracefully balancing her workload between General Audience and PBS KIDS projects. She deserves every recognition!
— Trisha Cruz, Design Director, PBS
Upon reflection of her work this year, the core theme is self-driven. Given a direction, she charges and takes projects to greater heights.
— Ocean Eiler, Assoc. Director of Design & Sound, PBS KIDS
Ever since arriving at Golin, Laura has wowed us with her artistic talent, unflappable attitude and cheerful demeanor.
— Beth Marlowe, Creative Director, Golin
